ADC vs INEC: Melaye Accuses Nafiu Bala of “Commercializing His Conscience”

The troubled factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has been accused by former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye of commercializing his conscience.

Melaye said this while pointing out that Bala attended the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) approved the leadership of Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, the interim national chairman, and others.

Melaye revealed this on Wednesday night in an interview with Arise television.

He stated that Nafiu attended the July 29, 2025, NEC meeting, which was overseen by INEC.

Melaye further claimed that Bala, who is presently running for office, attended the same meeting that approved the new leadership structure.

He stated: “Nafiu attended our NEC meeting on July 29, 2025.” David Mark, Aregbesola, and other leaders were approved at that meeting.

“INEC was present at that meeting, as was the person who has commercialized his conscience and is currently making claims.”

“INEC kept an eye on that NEC meeting; in August, we wrote INEC to inform them that, despite their presence, David Mark and Aregbesola are now assuming their posts, and they attested to receiving that.

Since the NEC is the party’s top decision-making body, David Mark officially assumed the role of National Chairman on May 29. On September 2, 2025, Nafiu appeared in court.

In the meantime, INEC ratified David Mark prior to September.

“If you ask me what was going on prior to September 2nd, it was that Nafiu resigned on May 17 and David Mark was the Chairman of ADC.”
