Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ran for president in the past, called the National Convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) a historic event and a new step toward saving Nigeria.
Kwankwaso said in a post on his đť•Ź account on Wednesday that the convention that took place in Abuja on Tuesday proves that the ADC’s spirit cannot be broken.
The former Governor of Kano State, who was happy to be at the convention, said that the ADC is ready to run in the upcoming elections and win.
He also thanked David Mark for his leadership.
He wrote, “I was happy to be with other party leaders and members at the historic ADC National Convention in Abuja.”
“The convention brought together our great party in one voice and unbreakable spirit—a strong promise to stay strong in our fight for a better, bigger Nigeria.
“I sincerely congratulate the National Working Committee, led by David Mark, on successfully renewing their mandate. With this new confidence, I know that our party will win big in the coming days.
As was reported earlier, the ADC said on Tuesday that Nafiu Bala-Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman, and Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives, were no longer members of the party.
They were kicked out for activities that were thought to be against the party.
The faction led by former Senate President David Mark made the announcement at the party’s national convention in Abuja.
The Rainbow Events Centre hosted the convention, which drew more than 3,000 delegates and political leaders as the party stepped up its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The ADC, led by David Mark, also kicked Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu out of the party.
Senator Binos Yaroe, who represents Adamawa South, made the motion to kick them out at the convention. It was quickly seconded and passed by the delegates who were there.
