2027: APC Chieftain Pulls Out of Kaduna South Senatorial Race

Ciroma Almajiri Joseph, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dropped out of the race for the Kaduna South Senatorial District seat before the 2027 general elections.

Joseph, who is better known as Hasken Southern Kaduna, also said he would support the current senator, Sunday Marshall Katung.

The APC stalwart said this in a statement dated April 20, 2026. He said that he made the decision after talking to family members, political allies, community leaders, and supporters from all over the district.

He said that the decision was made to bring the party together and keep Southern Kaduna politically stable.

Joseph said he left because he was patriotic and politically mature, and he also wanted to keep the APC together.

“I have decided to give up my goal of running for office under the APC and fully support the current Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, in his bid for a second term,” he said.

He also said that his long relationship with Katung, which has lasted more than 30 years, was a big part of why he made his choice.

The APC leader said that supporting the current government would help strengthen the work that is already being done by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

He said that he supported continuity because of important projects like the proposed Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Center in Kafanchan.

Joseph thanked all of his supporters in Southern Kaduna for being loyal and encouraging him throughout his political career.
He told them he would still work to improve the area even though he was no longer running for office.

He also asked his supporters to back Katung’s second-term bid to show that they agreed with his choice.
He said that this would guarantee ongoing representation and faster growth in the senatorial district.

Joseph reaffirmed his commitment to the APC, promising to stay involved in the party and continue his charitable and humanitarian work in Southern Kaduna.
