Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Friday, disclosed that his daughter advised him to work with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 general elections.
This was disclosed by Kwankwaso on Monday during an interview on ARISE News, while speaking on the changing political attitudes of young Nigerians.
Many young people are less concerned about ethnicity and religion and are instead focusing on leadership and governance, he said.
“Even in the 2023 election, my own daughter was telling me to go and work with Peter Obi, in my own house, he said.
The former governor said that the political choices of young Nigerians are often different from those of older generations, adding that many political leaders have failed to understand the increasing influence of the youth and social media on the country’s political direction.
“You have leaders who have barely any contact with the young men and women,” he said.
Kwankwaso stated that the young voters are becoming more demanding of credible leadership that can address the country’s challenges instead of depending on religious or ethnic sentiments.
“People are talking about religion. Some people talk about ethnicity but the younger people are looking for the right leadership for this country. And I think they are spot on,” he added.
