In advance of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries, the African Democratic Congress, or ADC, has named former governors Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State to head its presidential primary committees.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made this claim in a statement on Monday.
The announcement states that Abdulfatah Ahmed will lead the Presidential Election Committee, while Senator Imoke will chair the Presidential Screening Committee.
Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum as Secretary, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Hon. Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu, and Col. Abubakar Ali Ciroma are additional members of the Presidential Screening Committee.
In addition to Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr. Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr. Macaulay Iyare, Tajudeen Bakare, Elder Ubolo Itodo Okpanachi, Zainab Buba Galadima, Uzoamaka Onyeama, and Maj.-Gen. Muhammad Inuwa Idris, the Presidential Election Committee is chaired by Prof. Yisa Gana.
The party also established a Presidential Appeals Committee, which was led by Dr. Suleiman Usman, SAN, and had Barr as its secretary. One of the members will be Dare Okerade.
The ADC established two screening panels for the governorship primary. S.E. Aruwa, SAN, is the chair of the first panel, and Femi Olawuyi, Esq., is the secretary. Lauretta Onochie, Chief Dr. Vivian E. Ugochukwu, Akilu Indabawa, Ibrahim Mohammed Wali, and Professor Rabiu Bello are among the other members.
Barr. Justina Abanida is in charge of the second governorship screening panel, while Hon. Chille Igbawua serves as its secretary. H.E. Gerrard Irona, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, Joseph Ephraim Enemali, Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim, and Navy Capt. Aliyu Ngolmo are additional members.
Two Governorship Appeal Committees were also authorized by the party. Adah Usman is a member and Abdulhakeen Taiye Ibrahim is the secretary of the first committee, which is presided over by P.I. Oyewole Esq. Barr. Realwan Okpanachi is the secretary and Barr. Hassan Yakubu is a member of the second appeal committee, which is presided over by M.E. Sheriff, Esq.
According to the ADC, the committees were meticulously assembled to guarantee openness, legitimacy, equity, and internal democracy throughout the party’s primary process.
