Made Kuti, an Afrobeat musician and the son of the renowned Fela Kuti, has discussed marriage proposals and the procedure.
The 30-year-old disclosed that he didn’t get down on his knees when he proposed to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, since he feels that a decision should be made by both parties rather than one person pleading.
In a recent episode of the Timeless Podcast on the Nix Network YouTube channel, the Grammy-nominated performer made this statement.
“I told my wife it was a shared decision, so I didn’t get down on my knees when I proposed to her. “We are not pleading with each other to be together,” he remarked.
In November 2023, Made Kuti and Inedoye Onyenso were wed in a private ceremony in Lagos.
Inedoye was once his “school daughter,” the singer disclosed.
Made responded to accusations in 2025 that he and his Igbo wife, Inedoye, were “mixing blood” because of their disparate ethnic origins.
According to the musician, racial prejudice is a “slave mentality.”
