The former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, said Nigeria did not collapse under his watch.
This was said by Gowon on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of his 859-page autobiography, My Life of Duty and Allegiance, titled “No Going Back”.
Complex solutions are unnecessarily creating tension in every nook and corner of the country, he said.
The ex-military leader also said he was worried that Nigerians never tire of coming up with difficult solutions to simple problems.
‘The citizens, he said, would rather complicate the simple problems with more complex and ambiguous solutions that would create tension in the country.
“I think the book will put those doubts right,” said Gowon.
“The country did not collapse on my watch as Head of State. And I know that the nation, despite all of its troubles, still will not fall.
“I hope this book can help correct misconceptions and fill the void in popular narratives,” he said.
