Ibrahim Wala, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused the party’s presidential primary election of being marred by intimidation, vote buying and other irregularities.
It was gathered that Wala, a loyalist of one of the leading ADC presidential aspirants, Rotimi Amaechi, oversaw the exercise in Gombe State.
Amaechi on Tuesday rejected the outcome of the polls, saying the process was not transparent and fair as promised earlier by the opposition party.
Wala, who also endorsed Amaechi’s claim in a post on his official Facebook page Wednesday described the process as “brazen, shameless auction that betrayed every value the ADC promised to uphold.
Comrade Wala said the election result was determined in a hotel room and that voters were intimidated and disenfranchised.
The ADC chieftain urged the frontrunner and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to dissociate himself forthwith from what he described as “dirty, concocted primary election results”.
He said he had “undisputable evidence of irregularities and disenfranchisement of voters” that occurred under him in Gombe State.
One agent actually approached me himself, saying he’d take me to the hotel room of the committee leadership to get whatever I wanted.
“This hotel room was used as a secret situation room where the state party leadership retired to after their field day to finish their manipulative work behind closed doors”, he alleged.
