‘The Most Foolish Thing’ – APC Chieftain Claims Atiku Has Plot With ADC, Calls Out Peter Obi,

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of being used by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a political platform to truncate the southern presidency.

Akindele’s claim was in response to comments attributed to the Obidient Movement, which reportedly described former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as wise for leaving the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), it was reported.

The APC chieftain, in a post on his Facebook page, faulted the position, maintaining that Obi ought to have known from the outset that the ADC was allegedly set up to advance Atiku’s political ambition.

Akindele said Obi’s decision to join the ADC first and later moved to another platform was not politically wise.

He said the former governor of Anambra State would have done well to have stayed away from the ADC in the first place.

“ObiDENTs say Obi is a wise politician by not contesting in the ADC Primary but running away from the party,” he wrote. I do not agree with them.

“The most ignorant politician does not know from the beginning that ADC was Atiku’s vehicle to truncate the Southern tenure of presidency.

Akindele alleged that the ADC arrangement was a part of a broader plan for the North to recapture power after the regimes of former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu.

The APC chieftain also claimed that Atiku had earlier attempted to use the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to achieve the same objective but failed.

“It was a deal to hand power back to the North after 8 years of Buhari and 4 years of Tinubu,” he said. He previously used PDP but failed.”

Akindele’s remarks follow political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition figures and political groups looking for new alliances.

Atiku was the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 and 2023 elections and has remained a major player in Nigeria’s opposition politics.

Akindele also debunked the claim of some members of the Obidient Movement that Obi took the right step by shunning the ADC presidential primary.

He said Obi’s transition from the Labour Party to the ADC and then to the NDC demonstrated bad political judgment.

He said the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, exhibited better political sagacity by not following suit.

“So Obi would have been better off not joining ADC at all,” he added. The most stupid thing he did was to run away from LP and he ended up in NDC. This clearly shows that Alex Otti is a sensible man and Pita is a foolish man to the core.””
