‘How Many More People Need to Die?’ — Davido Slams APC Over Osun Election Violence

Nigerian music star David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the violence that erupted in Osun State.

The singer took to his social media page to criticize the political atmosphere in the state, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in extreme political activities that he said are causing fear and insecurity among residents.

In his post, he questioned the rising tension and the impact of political rivalry on human lives, saying he does not believe such actions will help the APC to win the upcoming election.

He also condemned the “intimidation and fear mongering” in public spaces during the campaign period.

His reaction was in the wake of the shooting incident that occurred in Osogbo and its surrounding areas, throwing residents, traders and commuters into panic.

Eyewitnesses said people ran for safety as shots rang out in busy places during the political activity.

Governor Ademola Adeleke also reacted to the incident, accusing supporters of the APC governorship camp of the violence.

He urged President Bola Tinubu and top security agencies, including the police and DSS, to step in and bring order back to the state.

The APC Campaign Council denied responsibility and instead accused rival political groups of attacking its supporters and campaign materials.

The party also demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.

Security agencies have launched investigations into the shootings while patrols have been increased in the affected areas to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.

The Osun governorship election is slated for August 15, 2026, and political tension in the state has continued to mount as parties ramp up their campaigns.
