Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, the APC’s chosen candidates for speaker and deputy speaker of the upcoming 10th House of Representatives, respectively, have met with Alex Otti, the incoming governor of Abia State.
The visit, which took place in Abuja, was part of the candidates’ nationwide consultation with stakeholders across party lines before the 10th National Assembly’s inauguration on June 13—the day the parliament’s presiding officers will be chosen.
Leaders and members of the Joint Task – 10th Assembly, a coalition of APC members-elect and opposition parties that have endorsed the candidates of the ruling party, were in the entourage.
Abbas and Kalu are requesting the support of Otti, a Labour Party member, and Abia-based opposition party members.
The only returning member of the APC to the House from Abia, where the LP won both the governorship and the seats in the legislature, is Kalu.
