The All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State has extended its congratulations to Ibrahim Abdullahi on his election to the position of Speaker of the House of Assembly for the state.
Daniel Ogazi, who was Abdullahi’s primary rival for the position, withdrew from the competition on Friday after informing the press of his decision to provide his entire support to the Speaker, who had been in office for the previous eight years. Abdullahi had held the position for the previous eight years.
The party stated that the successful election and subsequent swearing-in of Abdullahi were a triumph for the people of Nasarawa State in a statement that was signed by the state’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Douglas Otaru, and made available to our correspondent in Lafia on Saturday. The party bemoaned the fact that the recent crisis that has been engulfing the Assembly was produced by some politicians who did not want inhabitants of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony with one another.

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.”
“The vicious cycle of deadlock that has been going on for such a long time was started by a few individuals who are willing to use any situation in order to forward their own agendas.
“The All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State applauds Ogazi and the other members of the group for their display of patriotism. We look forward to a legislative stay in office that is more robust and effective, and we are urge all 24 members to support the programmes and policies of the government of Governor Abdullahi Sule to achieve speedy development for our cherished state.
