The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe, reported that it had detained 38-year-old Matthew Ifeanyi for allegedly murdering his father, Anthony Nnadike, by machete attack in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state’s Olorunda area, Eruobodo Ntabo, and Ijoko.

According to reports, Ifeanyi murdered his father because he couldn’t show him the N70,000 he’d been holding onto since July 2022.

This was said in a statement released on Wednesday by Soji Ganzallo’s office, which was also signed by the director of information and public relations, Moruf Yusuf.

Superintendent Alabi Gafar, the Divisional Officer of the Corps at Alade/Atago/Ntabo Divisional Command, received information on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, that a middle-aged man was allegedly attacking his biological father with a cutlass at 11, Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, near Olorunda Area, Eruobodo Ntabo, Ijoko in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area, according to the statement.

The statement said, “Thereafter, the Divisional Command patrol team was given orders to rescue the unfortunate victim and secure the son’s arrest, and upon arrival at the location, the victim had been transported to the neighborhood general hospital owing to the injuries inflicted.”

The hospital’s on-call doctor later pronounced him dead.

When the inquiry was still in its early stages, Ifeanyi allegedly confessed to killing his father because he couldn’t get back the N70,000 he had kept with him since July 22, 2022.

According to reports, he also admitted that he was forced to do the act after quitting his former job to start a business but his father was unable to give him the funding.

According to reports, the suspect has been moved to the state police command’s Sango Divisional Headquarters for additional investigation and prosecution.
