Breaking: Appeals court orders employees to stay at home to await decision of presidential tribunal

On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the day set aside for the decision in the petitions contesting President Bola Tinubu’s election, employees at the Court of Appeal in Abuja have been ordered to take the day off.

According to TheNigerian, Oluwaleye Oluwasegun David, the Chief Registrar of the Court, notified the employees in a memo that only those having tags would be permitted admission into the court grounds.

According to the document, the action was made to “create a conducive and peaceful atmosphere” for the Presidential Election Tribunal’s special meeting.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, and the Allied Peoples Movement all filed applications with the tribunal contesting Tinubu’s victory in the February 2023 presidential election.

The memo stated: “In light of the foregoing, extremely robust security equipment have been organized to man the Court’s entrance as well as in all key locations throughout the Court Complex.

Additionally, only employees wearing tags issued by the management will be permitted inside the courthouse. Please follow the instructions as stated.
