On this day, October 28, 2023, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, turns 80 years old. President Bola Tinubu has praised the attributes of Oba Rilwan.
In a statement made available Online on Saturday, Tinubu congratulated the traditional ruler through his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The President said that his connection with the Oba had gone a long way, calling the monarch “a fountain of wisdom, and knowledge, and a staunch custodian of the rich culture and traditions of Lagos.”
He went on to say that the success of his time serving as Lagos State governor was greatly influenced by the monarch.
The sentence “Oba Akiolu and I have come a long way” is part of the statement. He is someone I trust. I am quite fond of him as a friend because of his honesty, dignity, and integrity. He is always ready to lend his paternal wisdom and generous with his advice.
“Baba stands up for his people and the truth. His advice and assistance have played a part in my accomplishments as governor of Lagos State. The excellent people of Lagos have experienced peace, advancement, and growth during His Majesty’s rule.
The President prayed for the Oba’s long life and rule, but he also conveyed his sincere gratitude for his unwavering support and prayers.
“Today, I honor a remarkable monarch whose wisdom and wit are unmatched. May His Majesty live a long life and enjoy a fruitful reign on the throne of his forebears.
