The election of Ibori-Suenu Erhiatake, a member representing the Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency of Delta State and the daughter of Mr. James Ibori, the former governor of the state, has been upheld by an appeal court located in Lagos.
The congressman defeated Ben Igbakpa of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Halims Ahoda of the All Progressives Congress, and Ogboru Etabunor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance. He was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In his ruling, Justice Festus Ogbuinaya rejected the appellants’ arguments and maintained the PDP candidate’s election.
Erhiatake praised the Court of Appeal’s decision to her constituents and called it a divine victory in a press release she released on Tuesday.
She applauded the court of appeals’ ruling, stating that democracy has been established throughout Nigeria, not just in the Delta.
