The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed sorrow over the deaths of several dozen people resulting from the Nigerian Army’s drone attack in Kaduna State’s Igabi Local Government Area.
Remember that the Army had acknowledged that it was to blame for the mistaken airstrike that killed more than 80 people?
The former governor of Anambra State, Obi, said in a series of tweets on his X handle on Tuesday that the Nigerian military needs to be extremely professional and cautious in order to prevent a repeat of what happened.
“It is best to avoid any situation that ends in hurting or killing the innocent people they are supposed to protect.

“The security agencies should collaborate with trustworthy human intelligence reports on the ground before to any offensive attack, even though this blunder is one too many, to prevent innocent casualties as has been recorded in this case.
“Fatal errors such as this cause irreversible trauma to the families whose loved ones perished in this heinous and tragic accident. I send my deepest sympathies to the families who have lost a dear one. And I ask God Almighty to pardon the sins of the deceased, give them eternal rest, and hasten the healing of the wounded.
“We pray that this kind of error that results in such a tragic conclusion never occurs in our nation again. Regretfully, our country’s insecurity issue has lasted for so long that we are now suffering such unanticipated human costs as collateral damage.
