Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former minister of social development, disaster management, and humanitarian affairs, has come to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters to provide information about her stewardship.

In response to the anti-graft agency’s invitation, Mrs. Umar-Farouq showed up at the EFCC headquarters to provide clarification on a few matters the Commission is looking into.

The former minister had already said she was willing to accept the invitation from the Commission.

“I am honored to have served my country as a Federal Republic of Nigeria minister with utmost responsibility, and I stand ready to defend my actions, stewardship, and programs from my tenure whenever I am asked to do so,” the quoted statement reads.

The anti-graft agency had invited the former minister to speak about the purported N37.1 billion laundering that took place during her tenure, but she had declined.

On the other hand, she apologized in writing to the Commission for not accepting their invitation.

The former minister wrote to the anti-graft agency to clarify that she is not currently in the mood to appear before the commission, according to a statement made by EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale to Channels Television.
