Residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, are reportedly without power at the moment, according to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc.
A major technical fault on a 15 MVA, 33/11kV power transformer at 1×15 MVA, M44 Charley Boy Injection Substation caused the power outage, according to AEDC.
The Adkan Estate in Gwarimpa, Roads 63, 64, 69, lya Kasuwa, and the surrounding areas are among the areas impacted by the technical issue.
The AEDC management expressed regret that, given the extent of work involved, the transformer repair may not be completed until January 22.
The AEDC said that, although pleading with customers to be understanding, its engineers were working “tirelessly” to restore electricity to affected areas.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) released a statement on Friday night informing the esteemed customers in Gwarimpa, Abuja, Roads 63, 64, 69 and environs, Lya Kasuwa and environs, and Adkan Estate Gwarinpa and environs that the current power outage is caused by a major technical fault on a 15 MVA, 33/11kV Power Transformer at 1 x 15 MVA, M44 Charley Boy Injection Substation serving these areas.
“Unfortunately, due to the extent of work necessary, the repairs for this transformer may not be completed until Monday, January 22, 2024.

According to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc, the Rivers State capital’s outage since Thursday is “due to a loss of supply from Afam 132KV line,” as it told its customers.
It stated that the Port Harcourt Town Transmission Station outage was necessary “to enable our team to repair the faulty conductor wire.”
Port Harcourt Town, PH Main, and Rumuosi Transmission Stations are among the impacted areas.
Customers of PHED were promised that as soon as the work was finished, the power supply would be restored.
