The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, have commended their colleagues for their support in ensuring that they have unity, harmony and one purpose in the first legislative year.

The House, on Tuesday, adjourned plenary and proceeded on a two-month annual recess. The adjournment was sequel to a motion for the lawmakers to proceed on the recess till September 17, moved by the House Leader, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, and seconded by the minority leader.

While commending their colleagues for their support to the leadership, the Deputy Speaker Kalu urged them to spend time with their constituents, adding that they may reconvene if there’s need for an emergency session during the annual recess.

According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Press Affairs to the Deputy Speaker of the House, Udora Orizu, Kalu was quoted as saying that, “I will like to thank you on behalf of the Speaker of the parliament on how you’ve given great support to the leadership of this house, in ensuring that we have unity, harmony and one purpose.

“We appreciate all your support and we don’t take it likely. Enjoy your holidays and spend time with your constituents. If there’s a need to recall you for an emergency, please be well disposed to that.”
