Abia Home of Meeting handed a invoice on Tuesday to cease the fee of pensions to former governors and their deputies within the state.

It’s entitled: “A Invoice (H.A.B 11:) for a Regulation to Revoke the Abia State Governors and Deputy Governors Pensions Regulation No 4 of 2001 and for different Issues related therewith.”

It was sponsored by Mr Uchanna Okoro, the bulk chief and member representing Arochukwu State Constituency.

The Speaker, Mr Emmanuel Emeruwa, introduced the passage of the invoice after its first, second studying, consideration on the committee of the entire and third studying in the course of the day’s plenary.

Emeruwa, whereas congratulating members, mentioned that the invoice would scale back the state’s governance bills and redirect sources in the direction of growth.

He mentioned that the invoice, as soon as assented to by the governor, can be known as “Abia State Governors and Deputy Governor’s (Repeal) Regulation 2024.”

The Speaker mentioned that the invoice would take impact instantly, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
