Abia Governor Meets With IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu: Key Discussions Revealed

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been asked by Abia State Governor Alex Otti to maintain composure and resolve while stepping up efforts to secure his release.

During a visit to the IPOB leader at the Sokoto Correctional Center, Otti reportedly gave Nnamdi Kanu assurances.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, revealed this on Sunday night in a statement.

Otti informed Nnamdi Kanu that the procedures he started more than two years ago to resolve the matter had “heightened despite recent developments.” Otti was accompanied by Abia State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and senior Sokoto State government officials.

Assuring Kanu that the issue “will be resolved administratively” and that he would finally be freed, the governor urged him to “remain calm but strong.”

Additionally, he was pleased that the Sultan of Sokoto agreed with him regarding the necessity of Kanu’s release and the general reduction of tensions in the area.

Kanu, who was apparently in a good mood during the visit, responded by thanking Otti for the gesture.

He informed the governor that excellent governance and any initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare of the populace were his top priorities.

Additionally, he prayed for Otti and his staff to continue serving the state under God’s direction.

Kanu was “all smiles” at the encounter, according to the Abia government, and he expressed gratitude for the renewed efforts to improve his circumstances.

Recall that Governor Otti had revealed that attempts to release the IPOB leader were already in progress after Kanu was sentenced to life in prison, emphasizing that a release framework had been covertly triggered “during the trial.”

Kanu was convicted of crimes related to terrorism and sent to prison.
