Abia LP Chairman Warns Abure Faction of “Wrath of the Gods” Over Illegal Congresses

Umuahia – Emmanuel Otti, Chairman of the Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, has accused the factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, and his supporters of defying the April 2025 Supreme Court ruling by conducting unauthorized congresses.

Speaking to journalists on Monday at the LP State office in Umuahia, Otti described the recent congresses by the Abure faction as a “Kangaroo exercise” that violated the law. He revealed that he had obtained a court order from the Abia State High Court last week halting the conduct of LP congresses nationwide, but expressed dismay that the Abure faction ignored it.

“Remember that in April this year, there was a Supreme Court judgement and that judgement must be followed to the last. So, if you go contrary to the law of the land, the gods will hit you,” Otti warned.

On the welfare of LP members, Otti defended Governor Alex Otti, insisting that party members involved in his election victory are well accommodated in the administration. He added that a recent evaluation tour across local government areas confirmed members’ satisfaction with the Governor’s performance.

Otti concluded by affirming that Governor Otti and the Labour Party are poised to win elections across Abia in 2027, citing the Governor’s “unprecedented performance” as a key factor.
