After being abducted on Monday, March 3, along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Abuja, Nigeria Police Force officer Modestus Ojiebe is now free.
Earlier, it was claimed that the Chief Superintendent of Police was taken away by some armed attackers on the highway.
When the senior officer, who is a member of the Kwara State Police Command, was trying to fix his car when it broke down close to the Dei-Dei Police Barracks in Abuja, he was attacked.

However, reports surfaced hours after the incident stating that Ojiebe had been successfully rescued by Federal Capital Territory Police Command personnel.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, the Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki quickly led his patrol team to the scene following an emergency call.

Additionally, Adeh attested to the fact that the police officer had been successfully rescued and was now back with his family.

When the Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki received the distress call, he led his patrol team and promptly notified all police checkpoints and important entry and departure points into the Federal Capital Territory, she added.

The officer’s safe rescue and reunion with his family that same evening were made possible by this prompt action. In Garaku, Nasarawa State, the suspects abandoned the victim and ran away into the forest; efforts are still being made to capture them.

“The FCT’s residents are urged by Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu to be on guard and report any suspicious persons or activities right away by calling the police emergency line at 08032003913.”
