According to the party’s platform, Peter Obi and other former presidential candidates have been directly challenged by Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party, to produce proof of any money allegedly paid to him or the party during the general elections in 2023.
Speaking to party members in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, Abure made the declaration in a video broadcast by Symfoni. He also addressed persistent accusations of corruption within the party’s leadership.
It is understood by Naija News that he vehemently denied accepting any money for personal purposes from Obi or any other party candidate.

Peter Obi and all those who ran for office are the ones I wish to challenge. Abure said, “Any one of them can come out and tell the world what they personally gave to me or to the party…”
“Let them show the proof if they have it.” Let them keep their peace for all time if they don’t.

He chastised what he called “cowardly whispers” of corruption and charged critics of avoiding direct confrontation with the party leadership in favor of hiding behind the media.

A global press conference was also alluded to by Abure, who pledged to publicly reveal members of the party’s rival group.

He said he had been silent because he felt like a leader and wanted to make amends, but he cautioned that if he was provoked further, he would have to speak up.

When people were discussing agents and agent funding, I remained silent. I think I’m responsible for handling the good, the terrible, and the ugly. Now, however, some are crossing their limits,” he stated.

“I am eagerly awaiting their next move. And once I open my lips, they will smell like rotten eggs everywhere they go, making them unsellable.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the sole elected governor of the Labour Party, was also targeted by Abure, who accused him of not making any financial contributions to the party during the election.

The governor is hopping around like a cricket. Take a look at him. He stated, “We didn’t earn a dime from him.”

“What do I do for you, Chairman?” he asked me when we first met at Transcorp. I said, “Nothing.” Utilize your funds to support your candidacy.

The party has not gotten any significant support from elected members, he added, with the exception of a few MPs who made small contributions.

The leadership of the Labour Party rejected bribes worth billions of naira during the election process, according to Abure, who vehemently denied recent allegations of financial malfeasance.

Because of the integrity of the positions we held, we turned down offers. These same individuals, however, are attempting to expel us today,” he stated.
