Accord Party Declares Adeleke Unchallenged in Osun

The Accord Party’s Osun State chapter has reiterated that Governor Ademola Adeleke is still the party’s unchallenged nominee for the governorship on August 8.
Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Thursday, Victor Akande, the chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, dismissed Clement Bamigbola’s alleged candidacy as a “waste of time and resources,” maintaining that Adeleke is certain to be the party flagbearer.

Claims of an internal split, according to the party head, are unfounded.

“The Kangaroo Primary, which is allegedly being held by a nonexistent faction, is a hoax. According to Akande, “such a faction does not exist within our party structure by law.”

He went on to say that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has handled issues of a similar nature in other states, including as Anambra and Ekiti, and that Osun would be no exception.

“Those who were disseminating information about a factional candidate are merely political jobbers looking for attention in order to make money.” But in terms of our party ticket, I can assure you that Governor Adeleke has no competitors,” he emphasized.

In response to worries about the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate for governor, Bola Oyebamiji, Akande expressed assurance that Adeleke’s reelection campaign is not threatened by the ruling party.

“We are aware of the APC’s forebears and their style of governance during their tenure. By paying half of the workers’ salaries, the party turned them into beggars. We wouldn’t go back to that time period,” he declared.

Residents of Osun were reminded by Akande of the APC’s defeat in the 2022 elections and promised to raise their voices even more in August.

He continued, “The people rejected the APC in the 2022 elections and would even speak louder in August to make APC realize that Osun does not want the party to return it to the era of darkness.”
