ADC: Atiku Unlike Tinubu – How Will He Fund Delegate Bribes? – Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that President Bola Tinubu, who is in charge of Lagos State resources, is not like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In an interview on Channels Television’s “Morning Brief” program on Thursday, Momodu reportedly made the claim while downplaying worries that Atiku would use money to sway the party’s presidential primary.
Ahead of the ADC presidential primary contest, Momodu addressed rumors regarding Atiku’s financial capabilities by stating that, unlike other politicians, the former vice president had no authority over state resources.

Dele Momodu questioned how Atiku would obtain billions of dollars to buy off delegates, emphasizing that he defeated Nyesom Wike in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in 2022 by intelligent campaign strategy rather than cash.

“Atiku is a businessman,” he declared. Since leaving office in 2007, he has been a businessman. No state in Nigeria is under his authority. At least Lagos is within Asiwaju’s jurisdiction. I’m not aware of any other states he directly controls, but he has the power to do and undo. Rivers is under Wike’s jurisdiction.

“Atiku lacks that. He has been running his company. Where will he obtain the billions of dollars needed to buy off delegates, then? Wike felt distraught as a result of their use of strategy to outwit him. Wike was so certain that no one could match him dollar for dollar that he hasn’t recovered as of yet.

Momodu underlined that campaign finance should not be confused with bribery, pointing out that money is required for election-day activities and proper campaign logistics.

The ADC leader also used the US presidential election of 2024 as an example, pointing out that large sums of money do not ensure success.

“It’s not just about money,” he continued. There are logistics involved when discussing money. We are not discussing bribery.

In terms of fundraising, Kamala Harris even surpassed Donald Trump in the United States. She may spend more than a billion dollars. She was still unsuccessful.
