Recent governor defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have validated the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) warning of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheme to turn the country into a one-party state.
However, the party stated that the 2027 election would be a direct conflict between the Nigerian people and President Tinubu and his group of APC governors. It also stated that the APC has reinforced its claim that it is plotting to become Nigeria a one-party state.
In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said that the governors of Enugu and Bayelsa had betrayed their long-suffering constituents by joining the gang against Nigerians with their recent defections.
Because the 2027 elections would be a struggle between the Nigerian people and the governing party, which has driven the majority into extreme poverty and made life intolerable for the majority, the party stressed that the opposition is not disturbed by what it called the governors’ “political apostasy.”
The governors of Enugu and Bayelsa states recently resigned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which confirmed the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) long-standing warning that President Bola Tinubu is committed to transforming Nigeria into a one-party state at any cost to democracy or national stability, the ADC said.
“The APC may appear to have added more governors to its list, but in truth, these governors have deserted their constituents to join the ruling party, which has made life difficult for the majority.
Nigerians are able to observe the country’s current status. Every day, they endure the APC’s shortcomings. Even people who used to campaign for the APC or have its insignia on their social media accounts now steer clear of the party. For what reason? Because the Tinubu administration has failed to improve Nigeria’s reputation abroad, as well as to address issues of insecurity, economic management, health care, social welfare, and corruption.
Nigerians are paying the price for these failures every day, the party added, adding that “food prices continue to increase, jobs are non-existent, and insecurity continues to choke every part of the country.”
When the country has been mismanaged by the ruling party, the people in a democracy have no other option than to look to the opposition for support, alternative ideas, and a way out of their plight.
Nigerians anticipated this from these opposition governors. Rather than that, they abdicated. They also made the historic political apostasy decision to join the massive plot against the Nigerian people. They exiled their people due to cowardice and other self-centered reasons, not because they believed in them.
The opposition alliance and ADC stated they are equally happy that the distinction between those who are dedicated to saving the nation and those who only wish to board the gravy train has been made even more evident, even as the ruling party continues to celebrate the defection of these governors.
“The people are waiting and can see,” it continued. The people of Nigeria and President Tinubu and his group of APC governors would be engaged in a direct conflict in 2027.
