AFCON: Ex-Cameroon star, Joel Epalle predicts four countries to qualify for quarter-final

Former Cameroonian international Joel Epalle has named four countries he believes will progress from the Round of 16 stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco to the quarter-final stage.

Epalle insisted that countries like Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, and Cameroon will advance to the tournament’s last eight.
Speaking to CAF TV, the 47-year-old also stated that Cameroon’s AFCON Round of 16 tie with South Africa will be one of the best matches in the knockout phase.

“There might be a few surprises, but given the matchups, logic will probably prevail, with Morocco, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria advancing to the quarter-final,” Epalle said.
“The South Africa versus Cameroon match deserves attention. South Africa coach Hugo Broos knows the Indomitable Lions well, having won the 2017 AFCON with them.

“Tactically, this could be one of the best matches of the AFCON Round of 16.”
