The President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has deleted a social media post confirming that Nollywood actor Junior Pope, is dead.

Hours earlier, there were reports that the actor alongside three others died in a boat mishap.

In a post via Instagram on Wednesday, filmmaker, Samuel Olatunji, wrote:
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to a location and their bodies have been recovered.
“What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”

One Darlington Nwobodo commented on Olatunji’s post, saying the 39-year-old shared a video some hours earlier cautioning the boat captain.

“Omo this guy posted a video some hours ago while He was on the boat saying the captain of the boat should take it easy that He is an only child and He also has 3 boys to raise.
“Ah! This news should better not be true oo,” he said.

Rollas had also shared a post affirming the report.

But after the news went viral, Rollas made a U-Turn, saying the actor is alive and presently receiving treatment at the hospital.

“What God cannot do does not exist. Junior Pope is alive. He is taking treatment in the hospital,” he wrote on Instagram.

The post was however deleted minutes later.
