It is no longer news that the wave of insecurity has over the years been spreading like wildfire across the length and breadth of the country, striking terror into the hearts of citizens and bringing socio-economic development to its knees.
The constituents of the Bauchi North Senatorial District and the entire Bauchi State are indeed among the luckiest people in the country because of being blessed with a fearless hunter named Ahmad Muhammad Kwara, popularly known as “Unkuji” who dedicated his life to combating all forms of crimes, armed robbery and terrorism across the nooks and crannies of the state. This brave man is a younger brother to the late gutsy armed robbers’ hunter, Alhaji Ali Kwara.
Shortly after his eldest brother, Alhaji Ali Kwara, went to his last resting place in November 2020, his family endorsed him as his successor due to how he exhibited a predilection for his eldest brother’s philanthropic activities and dedication of his life to the voluntary service to humanity.
This reminded me of Alsatian-German writer, humanitarian, theologian and philosopher, Mr Albert Schweitzer, who once said, “The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.”
During his interview with journalists in November 2022, Ahmad Muhammad Kwara said, “I am following in the footsteps of my late patriotic eldest brother by collaborating with the Police to clear extreme atrocity from forests in Bauchi North Senatorial District of bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals. This sterling move is not only to ensure peace but also to strengthen socio-economic activities in the area.”
He added, “In fighting crime and criminality, we decided to begin from our hometown and the entire Bauchi North. We penetrated the forests around our areas and cleared all remnants of bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers, armed robbers and other criminals from them.”
It is incumbent upon Nigeria’s governors to throw their weight behind lion-hearted hunters like Ahmad Muhammad Kwara for each of their local government areas to catch two birds with one stone by putting an end to the escalating insecurity and massive frightening unemployment of their youths.
They should also do everything possible to grapple with the menace of out-of-school children, illiteracy, social injustice, gender disparity and multidimensional grinding poverty, that are considered to be among the root causes of the growing insecurities.
