Wale Ade-Oba, a member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, has announced his resignation from Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s government.
Ade-Oba criticized Governor Oyebanji, citing a lack of significant progress despite substantial budgetary commitments to the administration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ade-Oba declared his intention to stop working with the Oyebanji-led government and expressed his support for Mr. Kayode Ojo, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), whom he described as a visionary leader capable of transforming Ekiti State.
He claimed that the governor’s frequent absences from the state and pursuit of what he described as a “unclear agenda” have resulted in unproductive government.
The statement reads: “I’m writing to inform you of a choice that may surprise many. As you are aware, I have been appointed by the current administration, which is led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji. However, after considerable thought, I have decided to team up with Engr. Kayode Ojo, who is a leader with a vision for a better Ekiti.
“I believe the administration has failed to provide real development to many local government areas, including mine, Irepodun/Ifelodun.
“Our party members are neglected and underpaid, despite their hard work and commitment to the party’s success. Instead, opposing party members who made no contribution to our triumph are promoted to critical posts, while our faithful followers are ignored.
“The governor is frequently out of state, pursuing uncertain goals, and the current administration’s lack of productivity reflects this absence. I believe it is time for a change.
“Engr. Kayode Ojo’s leadership style and vision for Ekiti appeal to me. I believe his administration would prioritize our people’s needs, acknowledge our party members’ achievements, and encourage development in all local governments.
“I am making this shift because I want to be a part of a government that genuinely serves the people of Ekiti and honors the contributions of its devoted supporters. I am committed to improving our state’s future and welcome you to join me on this path.
