Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi scored one of the goals for West Brom in their 3-2 Premier League at neighbours Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The win was Sam Allardyce’s first since he took over from Slaven Bilic December 16.

Ajayi and Matheus Pereira scored West Brom’s goals, while Fabio Silva and Wily Boly were on the scoresheet for Wolves.

West Brom stunned their hosts early on, winning and converting a penalty within the first eight minutes.

Boly, who just returned after a lengthy layoff, gave away a foul on the edge of the Wolves box and VAR adjudged that it was inside the box. Pereira stepped up and sent Rui Patricio the wrong way.

Boly atoned for his error 30 minutes later, setting up Fabio Silva for the equaliser with a clever back-heel.

Big centre-back Boly then got involved again, this time poking home from inside the West Brom box from a corner to give Wolves a 2-1 lead just two minutes before the break.

Another big centre-back then pulled West Brom level. Ajayi nodded in the equaliser in the 52nd minute for his second Premier League goal of the season.

West Brom got the winner from their second penalty, which Pereira once again converted in the 56th minute.

Wolves manager Nuno Esprito Santos made three changes in a bid to get something out of the game, but West Brom held on to give Allardyce his first win in his sixth game in charge.

Ajayi has made 17 Premier League appearances this season and scored twice.

West Brom are still in the relegation zone despite the win; they are 19th with 11 points from 18 matches.
