Senator Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Nigerian Senate, declared in Akwa Ibom State on Friday that the state will not have any political parties for the general election in 2027.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) umbrella has been badly damaged and can no longer protect the people,” Akpabio said.
These remarks came from Akpabio, who represents the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the Senate, at his midterm empowerment briefing held at the township stadium in Ikot Ekpene.

Approximately 68 projects are set to be commissioned between Friday, May 16, and Thursday, May 17, 2025, the Senate President announced during the empowerment ceremony, launching a number of significant initiatives in his district.

There won’t be a political party in Akwa Ibom State in 2027, Akpabio stated when he spoke with him. For the Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio has garnered the support of all major parties. In 2027, Governor Umo Eno is the candidate that all political parties have decided to support. A motion has been made by Akwa Ibom to vote for Senator Akpabio for the Senate, Eno for governor of Akwa Ibom State, and President Bola Tinubu.

The umbrella can no longer shield the People’s Democratic Party, which is in ruins.

The president of the Senate described the present governor, Umo Eno, as a man of peace who truly believes in God, pointing out that some people may talk about their faith but not truly live it out.

The man Umo Eno is a peacemaker. Umo Eno is a devout individual. I’m not referring to people who made verbal vows of faith. I’m referring to people who follow God in their hearts. Akpabio stated, “Umo Eno has united us all.”

In his appreciation, the Senate President mentioned that his wife, Unoma Akpabio, has been empowering the people.

“She takes action because she is aware that hunger is not partisan. Feed my people, my wife, whether I’m there or not. Don’t stop sharing. People from Akwa Ibom will soon show you affection,” the Senate President added.
