Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno Finally Defects to APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally confirmed Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno’s switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Eno said the decision came after three months of intensive deliberations with important political stakeholders around the state while speaking on Friday in Uyo, the state capital.

“For a while now, there has been a lot of conjecture in the political arena, especially in this state and throughout the country, regarding my possible departure from the PDP, which was the platform that allowed me to become governor,” he said.

Diverse viewpoints have been produced by this discussion. I’m here today to answer those unanswered questions. “We should always be open to change, but not let go of our shared values,” the Dalai Lama famously stated.

Governor Eno affirmed that he had sent copies of his official resignation from the PDP to the state and national leadership, as well as to his ward chairman.

“Earlier this morning, I gave the PDP ward chairman a formal letter of resignation. Additionally, copies were forwarded to the national and state chairmen,” he stated. “I would like to express my gratitude to the PDP for their love, support, and the chance to serve Akwa Ibom under their auspices for the past two years.”

He underlined that the choice was not taken hastily and was the result of numerous discussions with party stakeholders and political leaders. He mentioned that he met with important PDP leaders on Thursday night for his last consultation.

He stated, “I think no one in this state’s political history has consulted as extensively as I have before making such a move.” “As participants in the Akwa Ibom project, I did it out of respect for each and every one of you. I believed it was necessary to explain the reasoning behind this decision and required your advice.

“We must be able to interpret the times, flow with them, and not swim against the tide,” Eno said, describing his departure as a reaction to the changing political landscape. I’ve made the decision to support the All Progressives Congress after completing my consultations.
