Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2024 Edo election, has threatened to sue Jarrett Tenebe, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over allegedly defamatory remarks.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate accused Tenebe of making damaging and fraudulent claims in a widely shared video against him, according to a letter from the law firm Banwo & Ighodalo.

Recall that Tenebe had accused Ighodalo of stealing billions of dollars in response to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s mistake when he presented the state parliament with the 2025 budget.

Governor Okpebholo had trouble reading the state budget estimate’s total figures when he appeared before the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

Following multiple tries to enunciate the number, the governor remarked it was puzzling him, a remark that caused amusement.

Following the governor’s blunder, a variety of users expressed differing views on social media platforms.

Tenebe claimed that Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have committed such a mistake because they had previously stolen billions of dollars in the video he made public on the incident.

Ighodalo responded to the widely shared video by giving Tenebe seven days to make a complete retraction, apologize publicly, and promise that no further disparaging remarks would be uttered.
