A FEDERAL High Court, Abuja today ordered that former registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Prof. Dibu Ojerinde be remanded in a correctional facility.

Ojerinde is facing charges instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and bordering on complicity in the alleged diversion of public funds estimated at over N5.2 billion.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu declined the oral application for bail by the defendant’s counsel P.O Olorunishola after the ICPC counsel Ebenezer Shogunle opposed the submission.

The judge ordered that Ojerinde be kept in a correctional facility pending the hearing of his bail application scheduled for July 8.

ICPC says Ojerinde committed the alleged offences when he served as the registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO) from 2003 till 2021.

Ojerinde pleaded not guilty to the charges.
