The Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has urged state governors to let the local government feel the impact of the increased allocation from the Federal Government.

The ex-Ogun State governor stated that President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, notably the removal of petroleum product subsidies, have doubled the state government’s monthly revenue since the current administration took office last May.

Daniel added that if such allocations were permitted to reach the local governments and filter down to the grassroots level, it would significantly alleviate the hardships caused by the current economic downturn.

He emphasised that there is no question that Tinubu understands Nigeria and knows what he’s doing, noting that already, the outlook for the country is becoming increasingly optimistic.

The former governor disclosed this on Tuesday during the empowerment and distribution of food palliatives to residents of Remo Federal constituency consisting of three local government areas of Ikenne, Remo North and Sagamu.

Items presented during the programme held in Sagamu include sewing machines, generators, grinding machines, foodstuff, electric bicycles for security agents, and tractors for farmers, among others.

Daniel said, “There is no doubting the fact that our President, Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu, understands Nigeria, and he knows what he is doing to fix our challenges.

“I want to say that all the little difficulties we are experiencing now are temporary, and if you notice what has been happening, you will know that gradually, things are better.

“I can tell you that since Tinubu resumes, the income, the federal allocation coming to the state has doubled.

“Though, we have challenges of inflation but increasingly, a lot of money now comes to the state and we are praying that the state will also allow this money to go into the local governments so that from local governments to the wards, it will reach our people.

“We must therefore remain hopeful, positive, and we must continue to support our President as he continues to work hard to make life better for all Nigerians.”

The Senator said the development of the agricultural sector would tackle hunger in the land.

He said this is why he had decided to hand over a tractor with all the accessories to the farmers in the state.

Daniel said that this will also complement nine tractors that were given out last year during his senatorial campaign.

He revealed that it has always been his joy to look after the people’s welfare, and he would continue to use his representation at the National Assembly to do so while also facilitating life-changing projects for the state.
