Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transportation, has said that he was forced to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the party’s failure to give Nigerians hope for a better future.
It was recalled that Amaechi had previously insisted that the APC no longer exists and declared that he was no longer a member of the ruling party.
The former Governor of Rivers State, in his resignation letter to the Chairman of the APC in Ward 8, Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, dated July 1, 2025, branded the APC as a party of failure, agony and anguish with no empathy for the poor.

Amaechi claims that his resolve to unite with other patriotic Nigerians “to rescue our dear nation from the fangs of failure, pain and anguish which the All Progressives Congress now symbolizes” is another factor in his decision to leave the party.
“I am certain that this is the right time to call it quits after a wide variety of conversations,” he continued. “The party has strayed from the high principles that gave rise to its founding and can no longer inspire hopes in Nigeria for a stronger future. As a result, I have decided to team up with well-meaning Nigerians to embark on a new quest for Nigeria’s freedom.
Amaechi is among the leaders of the opposition alliance that was established in 2027 to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s current administration.
