Operatives of Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a 28-year-old man, Faremi Ojo, for allegedly threatening the lives of his family members.
The Head of Ekiti Amotekun Corps Communications Department, Abiodun Adeleye, said the suspect, a resident of Ilupeju Ekiti in the Oye Local Government Area, was arrested on Monday by operatives following a complaint by one of his brothers that he (suspect) had been threatening family membersâ lives.
Adeleye said in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that âthe complainant stated that the suspect was threatening the lives of his family members, alongside the entire community immediately he returned from the prison yard, on account of trading human parts for money rituals.
âThe complainant and eyewitnesses stated that the suspect was constituting a nuisance and disrupting the peace of the area through intimidation with a cutlass, incantation horns (afose), cane, knife and other dangerous weapons, which were reportedly laced with charms.
âThe complainant explained how he (the suspect) strangled his father, burgled his house, stabbed him in the head with a screwdriver after many threats and attempted to kill everyone before absconding.
âEveryone in the family has already disowned him. No one can sleep again with both eyes closed in the entire community. His unseriousness, thuggery and unsteadiness at work were not encouraging to provide any financial aid for his freedomâ, he stated.
Adeleye said operatives swung into action upon the official report at the Outpost Command, arrested the suspect and transferred him to the Amotekun headquarters in Ado Ekiti for further profiling.â
He said, âUpon interrogation, the suspect said his ill-actions and misbehaviours were traced to the failure of his family towards financial assistance for his freedom ceremony at work.
âThe suspect and the exhibits recovered from him have been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado Ekiti for further investigation and necessary action,â Adeleye stated.
