ANAMBRA: Residents, supporters storm Soludo’s Isuofia home in jubilation

Residents and supporters of candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof.Chukwuma Soludo on Sunday night gathered at his country home in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, jubilating as they await the official declaration of the election result and former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor as winner.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced that Soludo won in 18 of the 20 Local Government Areas of the State already declared.
He won Dunukofia, Awka South, Oyi, Anaocha, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Orumba South, Onitsha North, Idemili North, Ekwusigo, Aguata, Orumba North and Nnewi South Local Government Areas.
So far, the APGA candidate polled a total of 103, 946 votes, followed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Valentine Ozigbo who scored 51, 322 votes to emerge second.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sen. Andy Uba, got a total of 42,942 votes to emerge the third.
Political associates, youths and women in their hundreds thronged to former CBN Isuofia home as they await the conclusion of the election following a supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area.
According to the jubilant Isuofia residents and supporters of Soludo, going by the results announced so far, they are very optimistic the APGA candidate would emerge winner at the end of the process.
Speaking, Mrs Nonye Chuma said she was happy because the next governor would emerge from her community.
“We are here to show solidarity to our brother and son while we wait for INEC to announce the final result.
“I’m particularly happy that my town, Isuofia, will be producing the next governor of Anambra. That is a very big achievement, ” she said.
Obinna Umeh, an avid of Soludo said he came to jubilate with Soludo ahead of INEC’s final announcement.
“I am one of Soludo’s big time supporter and I want to be on ground to celebrate with him when INEC finally announce the results of the election and declare winner,” he said.
Exuding great joy, Soludo who joined the crowd in singing, urged them to be patient as INEC makes effort to announce the final result of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) suspended collation of results pending the conduct of the election in Ihiala Local Government Area. INEC Returning Officer for the Anambra Governorship election, Prof. Florence Obi, explained that the suspension was hinged on the fact that election could not hold in the LGA due to security reasons.
