The African Democratic Party (ADC) came under fire on Tuesday from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for remarks about how it will overthrow President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The PDP criticized the ADC for its unprovoked verbal attack against it on national television by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, while the APC informed the ADC and other opposition parties that they would not be able to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
In a strong-worded message to the ADC, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda told hundreds of party supporters that there is no chance of President Tinubu being removed in 2027 under the auspices of the APC League of Professionals.
On Tuesday, the APC League of Professionals visited the party’s national secretariat in Abuja as part of a solidarity visit.
Yilwatda explained the successes made under President Tinubu thus far and promised that the party will secure the victory of all of its candidates running for governorships, national, and state assemblies seats around the nation.
Yilwatda claimed to be the link between the young and the old, revealing the empowerment initiatives being carried out by the administration of President Tinubu that have had a beneficial effect on the populace.

The APC chairman went on to explain the actions taken by Tinubu’s administration thus far, saying, “The child of the poorest man in Nigeria can now go to school to the top without borrowing from anywhere.”
“That is something that the government has provided for. We have only experienced that once in Nigerian history. To encourage young men who choose to pursue careers in agriculture, the government has donated N1.5 billion to the Bank of Agriculture (BoA).
We have never had this chance before, ever before, ever before. For the benefit of the youth, we have the Youths Fund. No government has ever taken this action before. And I can assure you that our president has the best opportunity for the youth.
“The first thing I can do is express my gratitude for your support, for sticking by our party, and for believing in it.
“People like you are the focus of our manifesto. People like you are the focus of the Renewed Hope Agenda. And I’m excited to collaborate with you to make sure that 2027 brings the president, governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and members of the House of Assemblies.
Hon. Marlin Daniel, the first secretary of the APC’s Bayelsa State chapter, thanked President Tinubu and the Sen. Hope Uzodimma-led Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) for selecting Yilwatda as the party’s national chairman.
Given his background as a politician and technocrat with years of experience in the political arena, he expressed confidence that Yilwatda would undoubtedly deliver party candidates at the polls.
According to a statement released by the PDP’s spokesperson, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party is still strong notwithstanding the ADC’s view.
“It is not only reckless but also revealing that Bolaji Abdullahi, who is well-known for his roles as chief image maker and defender of the dishonest, deceitful, corrupt, and failed All Progressives Congress (APC), would use the ADC’s platform to attack the PDP rather than address important national issues.
Unfortunately, Abdullahi, who was brainwashed by the APC, seems to be upset that the PDP is gaining ground against the APC in the run-up to the general elections in 2027. This is why he is criticizing the PDP rather than the APC.
In any event, the PDP, the nation’s main opposition party, which commands the respect, allegiance, and solidarity of the vast majority of Nigerians nationwide and serves as the broad platform for the country’s aspirations to overthrow the APC in 2027, will not stoop to join disputes with the ADC or, for that matter, any other opposition party in the nation.
“Instead, the PDP will continue to vigorously challenge the failed APC on issues while shaping constructive national discourse and galvanizing Nigerians to vote out the APC and install a people-oriented government on the platform of our party, come 2027,” the PDP stated, citing its performance history that Nigerians still remember with nostalgia.
According to the party, Nigerians, who are the PDP’s true biological strength, are still standing shoulder to shoulder with our party in spite of the defections of some of its members.
According to the PDP, it still has the national reach, connections, support base, and political clout to overthrow the APC.
Furthermore, it is interesting to note that the PDP, in its current form, has more than enough presidential candidates with proven track records who are capable of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at any time.
But as the preferred platform for all Nigerians, the PDP is still willing to collaborate with other well-meaning and like-minded individuals and organizations in the shared goal of saving our country from the APC, the party stated.
The PDP also stated that it is concentrated on building on the accomplishments of its 101st National Executive Committee meeting and its attempts at reconciliation.
The PDP declared, “Our party is working diligently towards a successful national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, and will not allow itself to be distracted by baseless attacks from known agents of the APC.”
