The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the official itinerary and program of operations for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, including crucial dates and processes for candidates and party members.
Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary, signed the timetable, which was released on the APC’s official 𝕏 handle on Friday. The timetable shows the period building up to the governorship poll on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The election process began on Friday, July 25, 2025, with the Notice of Election to the State Chapter, followed by the Update of Membership Register, which began on July 28 and will end on Friday, August 15, 2025.
According to the APC, “only members whose names appear on the register and are up to date in paying their membership dues will be eligible to vote and be voted for.”
The sale of nomination and statement of interest forms for the governorship ticket will begin on Monday, August 18, and end on Monday, September 2, 2025. Completed forms and delegate forms must be returned by Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Screening, Delegate Congress, and Primaries
According to the release, hopefuls will be screened between Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with the results revealed on Friday, September 25, 2025.
Appeals against screening findings must be filed before Saturday, September 26, 2025.
The Delegate Congress will meet on Thursday, October 2, 2025, followed by the Delegate Congress Appeal on Friday, October 3, 2025.

It is understood that the party’s gubernatorial primary election will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, with appeals considered between Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30, 2025.
On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, a congress will convene to confirm the gubernatorial primary election results in accordance with the Electoral Act of 2022.
Aspirants will be able to gather access codes for online form submissions beginning Monday, November 10, 2025, and the list of nominated candidates will be presented to the National Working Committee (NWC) by Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
The final list of candidates for upload to the INEC portal must be ready by Friday, January 16, 2026.
Campaign activities formally begin on Monday, April 6, 2026, with a grand finale scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, two days before the election.
Cost of Nomination Forms
The APC estimated the cost of governorship nomination forms at ₦50 million, including ₦10 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦40 million for the Nomination Form.
Female candidates and people with disabilities are only required to pay for the Expression of Interest form, as the Nomination Form will be provided for free.
Aspirants aged 25 to 40 will pay for the Expression of Interest form and get a 50% discount on the Nomination Form.
The delegate form costs ₦5,000 and requires financial involvement in the party for at least three months previous to the congress, with a monthly contribution of ₦200.
