The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council to coordinate its efforts ahead of the upcoming local government elections across the state’s 57 council areas.

According to a statement by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo, the council is chaired by former Lagos APC Chairman and ex-Commissioner for Home Affairs, Babatunde Balogun. Razak Ajala will serve as the secretary.

During the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday in Ikeja, the Lagos APC Chairman charged the council members to immediately swing into action and take the party’s message to every corner of the state.

“The election is fast approaching. I urge you all to hit the ground running. Take the campaign to every nook and cranny of Lagos. Mobilise the electorate to vote massively for our party,” he said, emphasizing the need to highlight local government achievements to win voter support.

The campaign council is structured into six directorates led by notable party figures:

  • Mobilisation – Oyinlomo Danmole

  • Finance – Olufemi Daramola

  • Security – Dr. Razak Balogun

  • Media & Publicity – Mogaji Oladejo

  • Electoral – Ademola Sadiq

  • Special Duties – Dr. Lateef Ibirogba

Additional appointments include Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, former deputy governor and current SSA to the President on SDGs, and Abimbola Saliu-Hundeyin, Lagos SSG, as coordinators for Lagos West. Abayomi Daramola and Chief Bolanle Olusanya will coordinate Lagos Central, while Chief Sunday Aboyade and Fatai Ayoola serve as deputy coordinators for Lagos West.

The APC emphasized that the council’s composition reflects inclusivity, drawing members from women and youth groups, artisans, non-indigenes, cabinet members, lawmakers, and the APC State Executive Committee.

Council chairman Balogun pledged a strong, united effort. “We are fully aware of the enormity of the task before us. But we are confident in our strength and commitment. We will not only win these council elections but also lay the groundwork for 2027,” he assured.

Oladejo added that the campaign will be people-focused and based on telling authentic success stories from APC-led councils.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission will conduct the local government elections on July 12, which are seen as an early indicator for political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
