APGA Women Leader’s Son Kidnapped and Killed in Anambra—Suspected Kidnappers Responsible

Martins was reportedly abducted from his family home not long ago. His life was lost despite efforts to gain his release from the kidnappers’ demands for cash.
In response to the tragedy, YPP candidate for deputy governor, Uzu Okagbue, denounced the ongoing insecurity and murders in Anambra State. In order to stop similar incidents in the future, he asked for more security measures and offered his condolences to the family.
“A land of promise now engulfed in suffering, Anambra is experiencing yet another dark day. Every expectation for a brighter tomorrow is mocked by a day that drags the heart through thorns. One of those days that serves as a reminder that shadows, not leaders, are in charge of us. By meaningless sound, not vision. Not by courage, but by cowardice.

This wound is deep, Martins.
We are devastated not just by the terrible murder you suffered at the hands of criminals after being abducted in your family home, but also by the criminal negligence and deafening silence of a government that has allowed monsters to take over our streets. Not only are we mourning a brother, a son, or a light, but we are also facing a reality more terrible than bullets: Anambra State has no government.

As blood soaks our soil and dread controls our evenings, we have a system of press releases and picture opportunities. People like us are killed like animals. The evildoers are free to roam. Silently, the virtuous are buried. We only hear echoes of bewilderment, denial, and powerlessness coming from the government house.

“The anguish of a mother whose enthusiastic, forward-thinking son, so full of goals and hope for his family, is abruptly gone is beyond my comprehension. It really is unthinkable. Nne, Ndo! Ndo nu, Onyekesi na ulo!

Next up, who?

This is now a death rattle rather than a coincidence. The spirit of Anambra is drowning under the weight of an absent and failing government.

“Where are the leaders right now? Our best and brightest fall behind tinted windows and protocol. Where are the people who were chosen to defend us protesting? Have we grown so used to sorrow that we now accept it as a custom?

Everyone who folds their arms in mute submission should feel ashamed.
A government that has accepted death as usual, exalted mediocrity, and neglected its governing responsibilities is a disgrace.
It is a disgrace to us that we should be arranging instead of praying, whispering instead of screaming, and waiting instead of acting!

“This is not a political issue, Nambra. This is a matter of survival.
Regaining our future from a system that has deceived our deceased and put our lives in risk is the goal here.

We had to get up!
We have to get rid of the criminals who wander our streets and the government that allows them to do so.
