Rima Strikers of Sokoto yesterday  shocked former Champions, Kano Pillars 32-27 at  the ongoing Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin, Edo State.

The Sokoto side defended resolutely and made good use of the scoring chances that came their way to claim a  famous victory.

Pillars struggled against Correction Boys on Monday despite winning 18-17 and seem not to have recovered from the last season unimpressive form which saw them losing their title to Niger United.

Pillar’s coach Solomon Yola who said they have overcome their poor goal scoring record, will now have to device a means to halt his team’s poor form and ensure they take the scoring chances that they create in games.

In other games in the male category, Adamawa Warriors lost to Safety Shooters  17-35, Correction Boys defeated Sunshine Kings 33-23, while Benue Buffaloes walk over Confluence Stars.

In the female category, Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri made it two wins from two games after beating Delta Queens 35-27. They had defeated D.Defenders 29-27 on Monday.

Grasshoppers who have struggled in previous years after dominating the league in the 90’s and early 2000, seems to have rediscovered the winning touch.

In other games in the female category, Rivers Queens lost to Seasider Babes  30-38, Rima Queens defeated Plateau Peacocks  22-20, while Defender Babes beat COAS Babes 44–22.
