Atiku’s Aide Slams FG Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Continued Detention, Questions Double Standards

Paul Ibe, a former vice president’s media adviser, has denounced the ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ibe stated through his 𝕏 account that Atiku had consistently demanded the agitator’s release.

He said that other others who were also arrested, including Sunday Igboho, Omoyele Sowore, and former National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki, have previously been released.

Ibe questioned if Kanu had committed a crime that would justify his ongoing incarceration.

“Atiku Abubakar has consistently addressed the Nnamdi Kanu issue,” he wrote. He demanded Kanu’s release in 2023 and put up a political solution in 2024.

“He has now supported the Sowore’s #MarchforKanu in accordance with his stance. It’s a patriotic gesture.

Without denying Kanu’s argument, let’s suppose that he has one. Does the ongoing fake trial imply that a sincere and equitable attempt is being made to hold a trial as soon as possible that will provide real justice?

By the way, what crimes did Kanu commit that others did not? However, other people who were arrested at the same time as Nnamdi Kanu—Sabo Dasuki, Sunday Igboho, and Yele Sowore—were given bail.

“What makes Kanu’s situation unique? Perhaps it is because he is from the opposite side of our geographic area and goes by Nnamdi Kanu.

Meanwhile, terrorists affiliated with Boko Haram have been granted amnesty. Do we not have double standards here? Therefore, the only viable solution to the Nnamdi Kanu situation is a political one.
