Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has called on citizens to embrace unity and offer prayers for peace and progress, emphasising the need for harmonious coexistence and mutual respect.
He spoke yesterday during a courtesy visit by the Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to mark Christmas, where he urged religious leaders and the Christian community to continue praying for the nation and its leaders.
While expressing gratitude to the Christian community for their unwavering support and selflessness, Mohammed noted their humility and simplicity in not making demands.
Governor Mohammed, who pledged to uphold their trust and ensure their concerns are never overlooked, stressed the importance of fostering diversity, promoting national unity, and ensuring inclusive governance where all citizens feel represented and valued.
However, he acknowledged the challenges faced by the state, including security concerns in neighbouring areas and economic hardships.
Mohammed has said that despite these obstacles, he remained optimistic about Bauchi’s future, highlighting its potential as a food basket and urging residents to capitalise on its peaceful environment to boost agricultural production and enhance food security.
He announced the launch of a food purchasing initiative to support local farmers and stimulate the economy by buying their produce.
Earlier, CAN State Chairman Abraham Damina, who led the delegation, extended Christmas greetings to the governor.
Damina commended Senator Bala Mohammed for his inclusive developmental strides and expressed the Christian community’s appreciation for his commitment to equitable governance.
