Bauchi police apprehend man for stealing 20 motorcycles over four year

The Bauchi State Police Command has detained a 30-year-old man with a reputation for stealing motorcycles.

The suspects, Kabiru Danfulani, who is now at large, and Bello Mohammed, also known as Faruk Manja, both live in the Bakaro neighbourhood of the Bauchi city and have been doing criminal actions for more than four years.

When questioned, the suspect admitted that he and his companion (Danfulani) had stolen more than 20 motorcycles over the course of the investigation, according to Ahmed Wakil, the police public relations officer for the Bauchi state command, who made this information accessible to state media.

The two-man gang, according to Wakil, a superintendent of police, has been terrorising the states of Yobe and Bauchi.
According to him, the suspects entered into a resident’s house on Old Airport Road in GRA and took a motorbike that was in skeletal condition and a Honda Civic valued at N640,000, as well as criminally conspired among themselves.

He claims that they were unsuccessful in their attempt to flee with the stolen vehicle after the victim reported the crime to the police, who quickly reacted and apprehended them.
“The Command has detained a two-man squad that has been engaged in nefarious activities within Bauchi and other neighbouring States for roughly four years, with a focus on snatching motorcycles.”At around 6:30 a.m. on August 24, 2023, a male named Aliyu Muhammad Gidado of the old Airport Road GRA in Bauchi reported to the B’ Divisional Police Headquarters in the city of Bauchi that at around 4 a.m. on the same day, he had learned that Bello Mohammed, also known as Faruk Manja, a male (30), of the Bakaro neighbourhood of Bauchi and Kabiru Danfulani, a male of Muda Lawal

“Upon receiving the complaint, a team of detectives under the direction of the DPO B’ Division, CSP Holman Simon, immediately sprang into action and informed other Police patrol teams/divisions both inside and outside the State of the event.

Consequently, as the thieves attempted to flee in the stolen car along the Maiduguri-Bauchi route, police officers assigned to the Soro Division, under the direction of SP Aliyu Goni, the division’s DPO, stopped the car and detained one of the offenders.

“During interrogation, the first suspect voluntarily confessed to having been a motorbike thief for about four years and approximately stole 20 Jincheng robber motorcycles and carried such menace in different areas of Bauchi and Yobe States, respectively,” he said. “The second suspect is currently at large.”

While an investigation is ongoing and attempts are being stepped up to apprehend the other eluding accomplices, he claimed that the suspects’ stolen car and the wrecked motorbike have been seized from them. The suspects would then be charged in court.
