The All Progressives Congress of Benue State, or APC, has revealed that it has discovered plots by state officials to support a demonstration against President Bola Tinubu in an attempt to prevent funding to local governments with undemocratic structures in Benue and other states across the nation from being stopped.

This was said in a statement made by the party’s publicity secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihomun.

Ihomun clarified, “The protest is also allegedly directed at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr. George Akume, the Leader of the APC in Benue, who has been the target of malicious accusations in the State by mischief makers, and the Senate President, Distinguish Sen. Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the Senate plenary that passed the resolution.

“This conspiracy has been well planned, and their first test step was to demand Comrade Austin Agada, the State Party Chairman, step down without providing a valid resignation letter.

“If individuals claiming to be members of the APC and employed by APC state governments were to openly oppose their President, the Senate President, and the SGF in an effort to restrain the government’s authority over a legal matter, the party believes that this act of sabotage would pose a serious threat to the unity of the state and the party.”

“While the organizers are free to express themselves, it is unacceptable and needs to stop when they take actions that would embarrass the President and his administration,” he continued.

The party thus urges on the Inspector General of Police and the Benue State Commissioner of Police to closely monitor this planned protest, which may have the appearance of a solidarity march but with a nefarious end goal, he stated in light of this development.

He asked Governor Hyacinth Alia to keep an eye on the actions of dishonest people associated with his administration who are abusing his name to commit crimes that could devastate the state.

Ihomun urged the state’s security services to remain vigilant.
